Becoming My Own Bestfriend

Hey Goddess,
“Do you just ever look at your friends and think, We are going to be some weird freaking old people one day?”.
Was this forwarded to you?
How are you becoming a better friend to yourself?
Besties, can I be fully transparent? For the longest time I was not my own bestfriend. I put so many other people before myself. I felt like their validation of me being a good friend meant that I was actually one to myself. Being a good friend to yourself will not always please those around you. Sometimes you’ll have to say no to things. Sometimes you’ll have to reschedule. Sometimes you’ll have to ignore phone calls to recenter yourself. Being your own bestfriend is not easy at all. Honestly it sucked at first but I had to learn the hard way. I was getting physically sick being around some people and I was not even aware of it. My body had been trying to tell me something and I only learned after doing it the hard way.
If you’re where I was a few years ago, don’t worry you can pivot and start putting yourself first. It’s as simple as saying no to things you don’t want to. Start there and remind yourself that every time you’re saying no to something you don’t want, you’re saying yes to yourself. Everything else around you will shift as a result.
