Unveiling Toxic Femininity: Embrace Your Dark Feminine Energy

Hey Goddess,

I wanted to drop a note for you to reflect on. A couple of months ago, I read a book called the Dark Feminine Energy Bible. And there’s a concept/quote that I want to draw your attention to. “Females gradually started to suppress their feelings of sadness, sexuality, and anger. Instead they started to lean towards one-sided femininity, which coincides with positivity, kindness, acceptance…As a result, women feel the need to suppress their emotions and let things go. They are stuck with unresolved trauma, fears, and unconscious needs their whole life.” This quote illustrates a concept called Toxic Femininity also known as Wounded Femininity. I know we hear loads about Toxic Masculinity but not commonly the reverse. What is this concept of Toxic Femininity and what are the dangers of it?

I know you’re thinking, I’m not toxic. I know you’re not trying to be. But hear me out, have you ever silenced yourself when you know deep down you should’ve spoken up? But you subconsciously didn’t want to be labeled as difficult? Have you ever repressed uncomfortable or negative feelings and emotions? Because you didn’t want to be labeled as a b***h or overly emotional? I only know this because I have definitely been guilty of it too. And it is a constant battle to unlearn it. Here are a few examples of what Toxic Femininity/Wounded Femininity looks like and some ways that we can move into Dark Femininity/Goddesshood.

Everyday is a journey and as women we are constantly faced with competing narratives. Don’t be too needy but you’re a b***h when you share your emotions. That’s a whole lotta yada yada yada. The only person that we truly need to be satisfied with is ourselves. And that’s what the Goddesshood Collective is here for. A sanctuary where you can recognize some of the harmful patterns/behaviors that have been passed down the line and begin to learn an alternative way to be. Explore our site to figure out how we can best support you on your journey.
